Patriot Yun Bong-chang attempts to assassinate the Japanese emperor as he is leaving the palace during the occupation of Korea in the 1930's. He fails but his associate succeeds in detonating a bomb in a room where Japanese high officials were celebrating their monarchs birthday in Shanghai. Both men are eventually captured and sent to the scaffolds.
